Abstract

The 2023 Cianjur earthquake not only caused physical destruction and loss of housing but also had a significant impact on public health, particularly eye health, which is often neglected in emergency responses. Visual needs are crucial for supporting daily activities, including working, studying, and social interaction. However, access to eye care services for survivors remains very limited. This study aims to analyze the role of social entrepreneurship in delivering inclusive eye health services for disaster-affected communities. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed using a survey of 50 earthquake survivors in Cianjur. The results indicate that 84% of respondents experienced visual impairment after the disaster, while 100% reported not receiving any formal assistance such as glasses or eye examinations from either the government or social organizations. Furthermore, 90% of respondents perceived glasses as very important in supporting daily activities, and another 90% stated that glasses were highly beneficial for restoring visual function. These findings highlight a critical gap in the distribution of eye health services, which could be addressed through social entrepreneurship approaches. The proposed model includes community-based optical services, mobile clinic optometry, and the empowerment of local cadres to conduct visual screenings. The study concludes that integrating social entrepreneurship into post-disaster recovery systems can serve as an innovative solution to improve access and inclusivity in eye health services
